Server configuration
This section discusses MFT Server configuration features. This includes topics such as: creating domain(s), adding services (FTP, FTPS, SFTP, etc.), users (and their authentication method), groups, trading partners, network storage, directory monitors and triggers.
New user tips
If you have installed the MFT Server software and are just getting started, it is recommended that you make sure the MFT Server is running (see Starting the MFT Server Service), then launch the web-based MFT Server Manager UI (see Launching the MFT Server Manager). The user name and password to log in to the UI with was specified during the MFT Server installation. From there, it is recommended you learn the basics on how to navigate the MFT Server Manager UI (see MFT Server Manager Navigation).
Next, one of the first things you will need to do is create a domain (see Creating a domain). A domain is a container for all your MFT Server services and other configuration settings. Within the newly created domain, the next logical step is to create additional services (FTPS, SFTP, etc. - see Adding domain services), and one or more user accounts (see Adding users) who will upload and/or download files using those services. You can use a newly created user to test the upload and download of files to and from the MFT Server. You can do this using any FTP client that supports a service you configured, as described above. This includes using JSCAPE's AnyClient application. By default, the newly created users will authenticate using "domain user authentication". This means the user's credentials are stored in the MFT Server database, and no additional configuration for this authentication type is required (several other authentication types are supported). See Setting authentication preferences.
